Tater Toots.

On the mountain this last week we have been preparing for the big race.

The Pikes Peak Hill Climb.

So it's been kind of crazy.

Our schedules got changed.

I had to get up at 3:00 am to get to work by 4:45 am.

We had to be open for the workers, but alas, most didn't even come in.

The next two days I had to close.

But it wasn't horrible.

Well at least when I think about it now.

At the time, I probably complained a little too much.

My poor co-workers.

I got asked out though.

Dont get too excited. I said no.

Before you start yelling at your computer screen about how I should have accepted the offer since, of course, I haven't been on a date in forever, hear me out.

He was a bit of a creeper.

I didn't even know him and he spilled everything about his unfortunate love life.

I felt bad, but it was weird.

Too weird.

Then, on Friday, we had an accident on the mountain.

A girl was hit by an out of control race car driver.

It was scary.

I'm just glad I don't have to work the race. I'm sure it was a joy for everyone there though.

Maybe.

Anyway.....

Let's make way for the....

Pins of the Week.

You know, I never thought about hace a superhero themed wedding.
But now, I think it would be awesome!!
Just the Avengers though.
Groom would be Ironman, of course.
That would make me Pepper, right?
I like that.
Because Pepper is pretty cool.

Hahaha...
When I was at college,
I would always say I'm never going to get married.
I'm just going to grow up to be a successful parents to cats.
The old cat lady.
The old, but yet successful photographer / cat lady.
My roommate would always interject and tell me I was wrong.
Well, at least I have a plan if nothing works out.
Use sarcasm as much as possible.
And love my cats.

Hah!!
This reminds me of the times my roommate would blast this song in her car.
I miss that car and it's squeaky clutch.
I miss driving down the highway with the music so loud
that my worries drifted away.
I can't wait to go back to school.

It is just sad....so sad.
Luckily, England is sharing.
We don't have to suffer the idiocy of American culture.
We can change the channel to something actually decent.
If only, American would learn.

I think this all of the time.

Along with this.

Isn't this just about the coolest thing you have ever seen?
This is genius. Absolutely brilliant.
Part of me wishes I would have thought about it.

Hehe....I couldn't help myself.
It is just too awesome.

A beautiful representation of the Proclamation to the family.
I want to print it out and frame it.

Last, but not least, R2D2 shoes.
Beyond awesome, right?
If only I could learn to draw like this on shoes.
I really want to learn.

Yee-Haw. Giddy Up.....giddy up.

Twelve more days.

Three more weeks.

One more month.

I can't believe that it is almost the end.

The end of my summer.

The end of my career as a Pikes Peak foodie.

The end of 45 minutes van rides almost everyday just to get to work.

The end of the sick feeling every time I ride down in the van.

The end of moths.

The end of finding dead mice in the dry storage room.

The end of getting up at three in the morning to get to work by 4:45 am.

The end of getting to know such awesome and amazing people.

The end of hearing southern, Australian, British, Italian, and so many more accents.

The end of silly pranks and mindless sarcasm.

The end of midnight sonic runs.

The end of a truly great and kind of sucky summer.

And I am kind of sad to my chagrin (I've always wanted to use this word :) ).

It all went a little too fast. I'll miss it.

And there she goes...

Do you know what happens to people who wake up at 3:00 in the morning just to get ready for work?

Imagine a zombie.

Brainless.

Eyes rolling behind their brain.

Clumsy gait.

Kind of scary.

Got that image?

Good. That is exactly what I looked like.

Except a little more attractive....at least that is what I would like to think.

3:00 am should not even be considered a time where alive human beings actually emerge from the frames of their comfortable beds.

I mean.....how could one inflict that torture?

But nevertheless, money called. And I answered.

I got on the summit soon enough to see the sunrise. It was gorgeous. (I did take a picture, but I had to get my Ipod fixed so.....image momentarily unavailable).

And then I found a dead mouse.

Yes.....while going to retrieve de-caffeinated coffee, I found a little dead mouse.

Nothing like a good scare to jolt you awake at six in the morning.

My manager laughed at me when I almost had a mini-heart attack in her office.

Yeah....probably not one of my proudest moments.

But believe me, you would have done the exact same thing.

Needless to say.....it was an interesting day.

A never ever doing this again, interesting day.

I know we are home sweet home, but I just thought you were embarrassing.

This is the longest summer I have ever lived through.

Well....hopefully I live.

Summer isn't quite over yet.

So who really knows?

My job could kill me yet.

So, in light of that, I need to find a way to make this month go faster.

My ideas?
Option #1.

Watch Doctor Who until I understand what the hype is about or until I get utterly obsessed with it.

I've watched the first three episodes, but I'm still not so sure about it.

Maybe with time....

Option #2.

Draw for a whole month.

I love art. I love looking at art and appreciating it and making it.

But I don't really like to draw that much. Maybe because I don't think I'm really good at it.

Though, I've realized I will never get better if I never practice.

Might as well get to it.

Option #3.

Raid the library and read until the sun don't shine anymore.

What could be better?

All three options sound awesome to me.

I just hope they can make time go at super sonic speed.

Or at least quicker than it has been.

I want to be in the Burg.

Keep on being beautiful, Miss.

I have a confession.

Wait....no. It's more of a realization, I guess.

Because before this week, I never really considered myself one.

Or maybe the correct way to say that would be I didn't recognize it.

Until....I started to read my previous posts.

And really dissect what my recent purchases at the store meant.

Then it hit me.

I am a nerd.

An obsessive, overenthusiastic nerd.

And I love it.

I love when my father covers his ears during the romantic parts in Jane Austen films because I scream and giggle like nobody else.

I love the feeling of a book in my hands.

I love watching my favorites tv series and movies over and over and over again.

I love Jane Austen, Harry Potter, The Avengers, Calvin and Hobbes, Star Trek, Disney films, Psych, Iron Man and all the other superhero movies in general.

I just love them so much....

So, in light of my a epiphany, I thought I would cultivate my newfound nerd-ness.

I present to you
The Pins of the Weeks

(Aka: Beth's obsessions.)

First up...

(drumroll)

The Avengers.

I love the Avengers more than I will ever be able express.
I know that I've said this before, but I just can't help but say it again.
I just loved the characters and the actors
who played them and the awesome chemistry.

I loved the witty, sarcastic, and laughter inducing lines scattered throughout the whole film.
Most from Tony Stark whom I literally cannot get enough of.
Iron Man 3 couldn't come sooner.

The Avengers was just awesome.
Pure, uncontaminated awesomeness.

Next?
Shawn Spencer and Burton Guster.
The best crime solving team on television.
I used to be a huge fan of all of the CSI shows, but after about eight seasons they have gotten a little dull.
And repetitive.
But Psych.....
I don't think that will ever happen.

It takes a little time to get this.
Took me about thirty seconds.
Hint?
The Hunger Games.
President Snow.
Book Title.
It's just too funny.

Harry Potter and Disney.
Two of my favorite things.
But, before today, I had never thought their could be a link between the two.
Got to give Disney some props on it's foreshadowing.
:)

I love love love BBC television shows.
I think they are 100% better than a lot of shows over here.
Sherlock is one of my favorites.
It might just be because of Benedict Cumberbatch.
Yeah....
I AM (definitely)
SHER
LOCKED.

Last, but not least, the chosen comic books of my childhood, Calvin and Hoobes.
Only 26 years later....
But still as awesome as the day it was created.

Papa. I have a stomachache. Can I have a Starburst?

Wal-marts are dangerous.

They carry chocolate covered peanut butter.

All red Starbursts.

Vitamin Waters.

And Avengers lunch boxes.

I swore I would not buy one.

Mainly because I am 20 and am I really going to use it?

I mean, I could just keeping using plastic bags, right?

That is what they are there for.

But then I saw this....

I couldn't restrain myself.

Nor have I ever seen anything so irresistible.

Well.....except for this one guy on top of the Peak.

But other than him, this lunchbox won my affection.

Five bucks well spent?

Definitely.

Cracking under the pressure of my current obsession?

I can't decide if that is good or bad.

:)

This is just how Jesus made me.

I loathe pollens and plants and weeds and.....nature.

Don't get me wrong.

I love the outdoors.

Ask me to lie down in the grass with you and I will gladly obey.

Unfortunately, genetics have plagued me.

For life.

Through the months of July through September, my throat tickles, my nose runs, my head fills like it's clogged.

Basically feels like a three month long cold.

In the summer.

With no foreseeable cure.

Little bit of a bummer.

--------

Pins of the Week.

Oh. So. True.
Hopefully weeks like last week are few in number.
If not.....I'm going to have to make a room
just for those medals.

This is brilliant.
Benefits?
No casket.
No having the family keep your ashes around.
Creepy.
No expensive funeral.
I think I would want to be a cherry blossom tree.
It's nice that even after death, you can still add beauty to the world.

I just think these are hilarious.
They could definitely be a conversation starter.
Or just an awkward look trigger.
But either way, they are awesome.

Yep....that's my address.
If ya need me, I'm always there.

I couldn't help but add this.
Partially because I think it is funny.
And partially because it is sort a kinda true.
And partially because Taco Bell is awesome.
I mean, what could be better than bonding over tacos.

I must say that this man is brilliant.
And makes me proud to be an passionate and enthusiastic nerd.

Word.
